Quebec provincial police issued an Amber Alert for a five-year-old boy just before 4 a.m. ET on Tuesday, expanding the alert to Ontario a few hours later.
65 years old suspect Ruixue Yang and another female defendant were charged with three counts of kidnapping on the 28th. It is rumored that Yang Ruixue may be the boy’s grandmother and the incident may be a family dispute.
Police are asking for help in locating Shi Gao Getty, who was taken from the municipality of Brossard on Montreal’s South Shore Monday night.
They believe he is travelling in a white 2024 Tesla 3 vehicle registered in Ontario with licence plate GVMK 536.
The boy is described as three feet, six inches tall and weighs around 42 pounds. He has brown hair, brown eyes and was last seen wearing a blue T-shirt.
The Sûreté du Québec (SQ) says its main suspect is 65-year-old Yang Ruixue, who it says is known to the family.
It is said that Yang Ruixue once served as a member of the Beijing Municipal People’s Congress.
SQ spokesperson Sgt. Benoit Richard says information gathered during the investigation suggests the suspect and child could be in Ontario, possibly heading to the Toronto area.
The SQ asked the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) to issue the alert in its region.
