WRIC NY Members Celebrates Spring Festival; Exiles Come Together for Support and Comfort
WRIC release 01-02-2025
The Lunar New Year 2025 is coming, and the members of Women’s Rights in China(WRIC) New York members gathered for a meal on the second day of the Lunar New Year (February 1). Instead of choosing a restaurant, they chose to launch it in members’ homes for at least two reasons: full freedom to chat, no time limit; secondly, the food is healthy and clean, and the cooking skills are no less than those in restaurants. Everyone talked freely, talking about personal experiences, life in the United States and the current international situation, and also discussed whether WRIC could establish a temporary shelter.
WRIC wishes all members and volunteers in the world a happy and healthy new year! Salute to WRIC veterans Gao Yu, Su Changlan, Li Hui, Li Yuanlong, Chen Qitang, Zhou Weilin and Liu Feiyue who are still without freedom in China!
A dozen members gathered at Zhang Yan’s home. Qiu Yueyun was the chef, and Wang Li and Zhang Yan were the helpers. At the last stage of making dumplings, Attorney Zhang and Mrs. Li also made their own dumplings. They were all experienced in making dumplings. The dumpling skins they rolled were really thin. Wang Li’s stuffing was first-rate and the dumplings were very fragrant. The food you make yourself is delicious and healthy. The seafood was not absent. The other dishes were all delicious. The beef brisket and radish stew, the twice-cooked pork, Zhang Yan’s hand-dried bacon, Wang Li’s ketchup prawns, and the dumplings at the end were very popular. Everyone felt very great. The three or four children were also very happy. The neighbor brought a baby and became a little happy fruit. From one or two o’clock in the afternoon to eleven o’clock in the evening, a meal took seven or eight hours. There was very little dessert and watermelon left.
There was no extravagant setup, but the warmth and comfort were felt by all. Unfortunately, members who were far away, such as Yao Cheng, couldn’t attend. Wu Ting, though not living in New York, had planned to come with her husband but mistakenly got the time wrong, thinking the gathering was on Sunday instead. She must have regretted missing the opportunity to taste the handmade air-dried bacon.
WRIC members in New York had a joyful and happy time on the second day of the 2025 Lunar New Year.
This little baby girl who appeared in the show is so cute!
JOE, who was speaking, was an early volunteer for Chinese women’s rights. From an overseas student to someone who sympathized with and supported the democracy movement, and now is running for mayor of New York City, her life has been a series of huge leaps.
We forgot to take photos of the air-dried bacon, twice-cooked meat, meat balls and chocolate cheese cake below, and when I remembered, there were only a few left.
