“709 Crackdown” Lawyers Are Still Harassed After Years Out of Prison, Forced Eviction Is Common

Forced eviction is a common suppression method used by the Chinese government to deal with human rights lawyers. Since July 9, 2015, evictions have occurred more frequently during the “709 crackdown” including lawyers’ families who rented houses.” 709″ human rights lawyer Wang Quanzhang and his family forced to move at least thirteen times since 2015. After April 2023, they were forced to move nine times more within 20 days. “709” lawyer Li Heping and his family were forced to relocate eight times since start of the crackdown.
